The official Anniversary Event to commemorate the 150th anniversary of BASF will take place on April 23, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in the BASF Feierabendhaus. The company expects more than 1,000 international guests from government, business, research, and society.
One highlight of the event will be the premiere of the composition “Symphony No. 8: Water Dances,” which Michael Nyman composed for BASF’s anniversary. The English composer was inspired by sounds, which BASF employees worldwide collected and submitted in 2014. The symphonic work will be performed for the first time by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London, conducted by Josep Vicent starting at around 12:30 p.m. on April 23. The event will be moderated by Barbara Hahlweg (German TV station ZDF).
