Under the China Social Welfare Foundation’s “Project Hope: Design with Love” charity project, BASF and its partner DuBaiCheng Environmental Protection Engineering Co., Ltd (DBC) donated a new playground for the Zhangjiajie Miaopu Primary school, located in the mountainous Hunan province, China. In need of renovation due to age and frequent use and with a slippery cement flooring, the exercise area of the school had become dangerous for students to play in. Containing Infinergy® SP, a special grade of expanded thermoplastic polyurethane (E-TPU) from BASF, the floor provides now a safer sporting experience for the students and helps reducing the risk of exercise injuries.
Over the past two years, BASF and DBC have partnered on sports and playground flooring projects in dozens of schools across China using BASF’s polyurethane solutions. This year in August, a new benchmark was set with the launch of the world-first E-TPU running track with the IAAF certified polyurethane structure in Shanghai American School (SAS). Infinergy® gives the running track high rebound performance and excellent impact absorption.
