New development for modern building: Insulation Expo Europe (IEX) is the leading trade fair for industrial insulation and insulation technology and will take place from 16-17 May in Cologne. BASF has developed this easy-to-process and non-flammable material based on pure mineral raw materials in cooperation with the U.S. company Aspen Aerogels Inc. With SLENTEX® BASF has succeeded in making an inorganic aerogel available as a single-layer, flexible mat for a wide range of applications in the construction and renovation sector. IEX visitors can convince themselves of the outstanding product properties at the joint stand of both companies with the number 550 in Hall 8: "We are pleased that we can jointly present the new high-performance insulating material to an international audience and are convinced that we are making a positive contribution to modern, energy-efficient construction," says Gregg Landes, Vice President, Innovation and Strategic Development, Aspen Aerogels.
The extremely slim SLENTEX® can be used everywhere and enables the construction of very thin thermal insulation composite systems. With a lambda value of ≤19 mW/m • K, the highly efficient insulation mat achieves a significantly lower thermal conductivity than conventional insulating materials. The non-flammable material is classified in fire protection class A2-s1, d0. The inorganic aerogel is both breathable and hydrophobic.The flexibility of the insulating material adapts very well to different building structures and meets high energy requirements," says project manager Dr. Wibke Lölsberg, responsible for the global market launch of the new high-performance product at BASF.
