First report following GRI G4

March 2015

For the first time, BASF has aligned its integrated report with the comprehensive option of the G4 guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The BASF Report 2014 was published at the Annual Press Conference at the end of February.

“Using the ambitious comprehensive option of the international G4 guidelines is another, significant step for our integrated, audited report. It displays transparency externally and stimulates integrated thinking internally,” said Thorsten Pinkepank, Director Sustainability Relations.

From 2003 on, BASF has been committed to the Global Reporting Initiative together with other stakeholders. Beyond, BASF has served as the pilot company in the development of the framework for integrated reporting of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) since 2012. In 2014 BASF joined the IR Business Network to discuss its own experiences with other stakeholders and to give and receive impulses for the further development of integrated reporting.

The report documents BASF’s economic, environmental, and social performance in 2014. Examples illustrate how sustainability contributes to BASF’s long-term business success and how BASF as a company creates value for employees, shareholders, business partners, neighbors, and the public.
