Business chemists at BASF
Be the mediator between two worlds.
As a business chemist you understand the disciplines of chemicals and business. You speak two "languages" at the same time and can handle both disciplines. In research and development your tasks will focus on research controlling, which requires marketing experience with a clear understanding of chemistry. The main areas of work are however outside research in commercial departments: e.g. in procurement, technical marketing or sales, product management, new business development or supply chain management. Contribute your wide-ranging expertise to these areas.
If you have already completed your business chemistry degree and gained initial business experience, you can directly join in various commercial functions of the world's largest chemical company BASF - e.g. in procurement, technical marketing or sales, product management, new business development or supply chain management.

If you have already gained initial business experience in a commercial area and are now looking for your next workplace challenge, you should contact us. Very good German and English language skills are a requirement. You communicate confidently and authentically and like to work in interdisciplinary and inter-cultural teams. In an interview you can convince us of your strengths, e.g. clear team skills and flexibility.
It is in principle possible to join all commercial functions and departments - in procurement, technical marketing or sales, product management, new business development or supply chain management. The tasks are as varied as our products and the industries and customers that we serve. Depending on your experience you will join in a junior or senior position. You take on responsibilities from the very first day. You will receive on-the-job training in a committed, competent team.
You can expect demanding tasks with high levels of responsibility. For example, if you start in raw material procurement you will contribute to ensuring the supply of raw materials to our production processes. In product management you will be responsible for the result of a defined portfolio of products and take decisions on prices, customer prioritization and plant optimization. Or you will develop ideas for new sales markets for our products in new business development.
Here, you will find attractive conditions and excellent development opportunities. Job enrichment and job rotation are important to us: moving jobs between different business units is an integral part of career development. We will support you with numerous training measures such as seminars, workshops and self-directed learning offers. You determine your own focus areas and discuss the next steps of your career regularly with your supervisor.
