BASF Polyurethanes GmbH, in the vicinity of Osnabrück and Bremen in Lemförde, Lower Saxony, is the market and technology leader for polyurethane systems and specialist plastics in Europe.

The group company counts among one of the five largest BASF sites in Europe. With our market-oriented focus, we develop, produce, and supply performance materials – a general term for engineering plastics and polyurethanes – and basic polyurethane components.

In 2015, over 1,500 employees in Lemförde achieved a turnover of more than 2.2 billion euros. This makes the company, founded in 1962, one of the largest employers in the local Dümmer See region, famed for its leisure activities. 30 km north-east of Osnabrück, the location is the global research site for specialty polyurethanes in the BASF Group, employing over 200 people in research and development.

Our performance materials make life more comfortable and consistently help to save energy. They help to insulate buildings more effectively and to make vehicles lighter. Manufacturers in almost all industrial sectors worldwide use the potential and benefits of our special plastics.

We offer our employees an attractive working environment and excellent conditions, so that they can best bring their knowledge and innovative ideas to success and further develop both professionally and personally.

We attach great importance to innovation and thereby fully rely on our team. Clear structures, sector-specific orientation, focus on new markets and products, and clear differentiation between customer-oriented tasks as well as production and the supply chain form the keystones of our company.

We are thus able to further strengthen our competitiveness, ensure more profitable growth and supply our customers with even more effective, more intelligent solutions.

We support our new employees through a comprehensive onboarding program, thus ensuring a smooth start from day one.

Furthermore, we actively encourage our employees' long-term development: customized advanced training programs and individual career development are very important to us. We prefer to select managers from among our own employees, an approach which opens up excellent career opportunities. As we are part of the BASF Group, you have career opportunities open to you all over the world.

Our experienced employees fulfill exciting, challenging tasks on a daily basis. Whether in the laboratory, in a production plant or in an office, they always complete their work with energy, commitment and enthusiasm. Many of them have been with us for several decades. A sense of unity in an informal atmosphere is important to us. We do not beat around the bush, but get straight to the point.

If you like to explore new approaches, are creative and want to play an active role in your job, come join us and help build our team. It is our goal to maintain our leading market position; and we can only achieve this if we have the best team. We are looking forward to meeting you.

Take the opportunity to supplement your everyday college work with hands-on experience – for example, as an intern gaining work experience as part of your course, during the vacation or during work on your Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis.

Supplementing Theory with Practice

During your internship, you will become acquainted with all the important tasks of everyday work. You gain insight into the processes and functions of day-to-day business and usually work on a defined project. Depending on the job profile, you work on a project on your own initiative or as a team member.

Your personal supervisor is there to help you should you have any questions, creates useful contacts and gives you regular feedback on your work. At the end of your internship, we not only supply you with an informative report on your performance, but we also hold a detailed final meeting with you in which we give you feedback on your achievements and potential.

Ending on High Note

You’d like to write a thesis on an interesting subject and with a strong practical component? We’re open for many courses of study. Whether you’re a natural scientist, engineer, economist or humanities student, it’s your enthusiasm and talent that count most for us.

Develop your own ideas on the subject of your thesis and work with us on forward-looking projects.

Lemförde lies in the heart of Lower Saxony, in the immediate vicinity of the second largest lake in the province. The Dümmer See - the small seaside for a quick getaway - and the neighbouring vicinity offer a variety of activities for water sports as well as for enjoying nature, cycling and hiking. Bremen, the old town with its fabled city musicians, is not far and invites you for walks through its popular Schnoor district or along the Schlachte promenade. Historically significant, but in the opposite direction, lies the town of Osnabrück, where peace was born in Westphalia. It offers abundant opportunities for shopping and equally attractive cultural activities. Both cities are an easy train ride away.
