BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH restructures and assigns new positions

  • Following a successful 2017, the business activities of BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH are to be reorganized, effective second quarter 2018

BASF New Business GmbH successfully expanded its operative business last year. Amongst others, the company Innofil3D, headquartered in Emmen in the Netherlands was acquired in August 2017 and in September the company BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH, based in Heidelberg, was newly founded. Further important milestones included significant advances in the technological development of material and systems formulations as well as our engineering services in design and simulation. All this was undertaken with the overriding aim of opening up industrial applications for 3D printing.

Our objective continues to develop additive manufacturing beyond prototyping and to identify reference applications and their implementation in innovative industrial end uses. We are working together with our customers and our cooperation and technology partners on developing additive manufacturing on a completely new economic scale, especially in the areas of printer construction and software development.

BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH is being expanded specifically to achieve these ambitious goals. The new structure supports consistent focus on target industries and manufacturing technologies: four operative business lines will be set up, effective April 1, 2018, and headed by the following Business Directors:

  • Jeroen Wiggers: 3D-P Solutions for Additive Extrusion (AES)
  • Arnaud Guedou: Liquid 3D-P Formulations & Systems (LFS)
  • Stephan Eelman: 3D-P Service Solutions & Metal Systems (SMS)
  • TBA*.: 3D-P Solutions for Powder Bed Fusion (PBF)

In addition, the following Industry Champions have been nominated to coordinate customer activities in the target industries.

  • Kara A. Noack: Consumer
  • Jeroen Wiggers: Industrial
  • Arnaud Guedou: Medical & dental
  • Stephan Eelman: Aerospace
  • TBA*.: Automotive

(*To be announced in due course)

Dirk Simon, Director Innovation Business Unit 3D Printing, who played a crucial role in the successful development of the business, will leave the company on March 31 at his own request.

“We are convinced that the new organization will enable us to make a targetoriented and efficient contribution to the consistent development of industrial additive manufacturing,” explained Volker Hammes, Managing Director of BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH.
