BASF joins Institute for Food Safety and Health to collaborate on nutrition research and food safety

FLORHAM PARK, NJ, July 14, 2013 -- BASF announced that it has joined the Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH) to collaborate on nutrition research and food safety projects. The announcement was made at 2013 Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Food Expo, the nation’s largest gathering of experts in the science and business of food.

Established in 2011, IFSH at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) is a world-class food science research institute that provides stakeholders the opportunity to develop and exchange knowledge in food safety, food defense and nutrition. IFSH builds on the vital work of the National Center for Food Safety and Technology (NCFST), a unique research consortium of IIT, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the food industry.

In its collaboration with IFSH, BASF has the opportunity to work with experts in their fields on developing practical approaches for future market and product challenges.

“The IFT 2013 meeting and food expo is the perfect venue to share with our industry colleagues BASF’s plans to work with IFSH on special projects at its two campuses in Chicago, the food crossroads of the country,” said Charles Barber, Head of Applications and Technology, BASF Nutrition & Health, North America.

“BASF’s customers will benefit from this collaboration knowing that it is partnering with the ‘best of the best’ including access to the top scientists and clinical nutrition research in support of their products.”

IFSH extends a warm welcome to BASF,” said Armand Paradis, Director of Business Development, IFSH. “Both organizations share a mutual interest in enhancing nutrition and we look forward to a close collaboration. BASF’s health ingredients and network of experts combined with IFSH’s research facilities and scientists make a great recipe for success.”
