Business update on US winter weather and supply shortage
The chemical industry continues to feel the results of the severe winter weather that caused nearly every major chemical complex in Texas to shut down.
The ripple effect of this unprecedented impact to the US Gulf Coast can now be felt at each level of the supply chain. The extreme weather conditions collided with a stressed transportation and logistics industry due to a global surge in manufacturing demand at the onset of 2021. Although more and more manufacturing facilities are going back online, the impact from the manufacturing disruption cannot be understated.
The industries that we serve will continue to recover for weeks to come and beyond and we recognize that consumers are also beginning to feel the impacts from the far-reaching supply disruption.
Across BASF, global and regional teams are all focusing in every way possible on business continuity and the overall return to normal manufacturing operations. As manufacturers and as consumers, we will each continue to weather this situation together. We extend our thanks to our customers for their understanding and continued partnership through this global disruption.
We look forward to remaining the partner that you have come to trust and rely on over the years.
As BASF Dispersions and Resins, this is our pledge to you:
We are committed to the industries we support. It is our highest priority that we maintain consistent communication and transparency with our customers and that we can return our sites to full operations as safely as possible.
