Indian Head Casino

Indian Head Casino - Warm Springs, OR

The 40,000 sq.ft. Indian Head Casino was designed to pay homage to the Warm Springs tribal culture and heritage.

The inspiration with its concrete ramps and stylized platform roofs is to resemble a tribal fishing area at the old Celilo Falls. The walls abstractly illustrate the appearance of streaming water beneath the fishing platforms. The color of the roof lines along with the metallic finish of the EIFS panels create a unique feature visible from the Highway.

The biggest challenge of the project was the feature wall. Foam panels were laser-cut in California. Over 125 customized panels were required for the project. The project was clad, with BASF Senergy Channeled Adhesive Design over a BASF Senergy Metallic Surfacing System. The special cut foam shapes were meshed and basecoated by hand using a special technique with a rubber squeegee tool. After the BASF Metallic Color Coat was applied, the result was walls which appear to be the rolling waves of the Columbia River. At night, the walls are down-lit with colored lights that change patterns to simulate movement and emphasize the dramatic effect.
