Pigment Dispersion Platform - From Solvent‑Based to Energy‑Curable Systems.

Laropal A 81 is BASF’s core grinding resin platform, delivering proven pigment wetting and dispersion performance across a range of solvent‑based coating and ink applications. Its versatile aldehyde resin chemistry serves as the foundation for multiple optimized delivery formats – Laropal 855 S, 860 X, and 863 M – each designed to meet different processing needs, viscosity targets, and workflow preferences while maintaining consistent A 81 performance. Together, the Laropal A 81 family gives formulators flexibility to balance efficiency, rheology, and ease of use without compromising dispersion quality.

To expand the Laropal dispersion platform, Laropal A 101 provides an additional solvent‑based aldehyde grinding resin option for high‑pigment‑content dispersions and coating formulations where low solution viscosity, broad compatibility, and strong coating performance are important. Laropal LR 9008 extends the portfolio into aqueous systems as a modified aldehyde resin solution for universal pigment dispersions, offering excellent pigment wetting and compatibility with water‑reducible binders across a range of coating technologies.

To complement the Laropal platform further, Laromer PR 9013 extends BASF’s dispersion portfolio into energy‑curable systems. This unsaturated, modified dispersing oligomer is designed for UV‑ and EB‑curable pigment concentrates, inks, and coatings, providing efficient pigment wetting and dispersion while actively participating in curing through its acrylate functionality.
