History

BASF has been doing business in Vietnam since 1994, after establishing a representative office of BASF Singapore Pte Ltd. in Ho Chi Minh City. Owing to the rapid increase in business, another representative office was established in Hanoi two years later.

We further strengthened our operations in Vietnam with the acquisition of Degusa in 2006 (later renamed as BASF Construction Chemicals Co., Ltd.) and of Ciba in 2009.

As Vietnam emerged as one of the key markets for BASF in Asia Pacific, a wholly-owned foreign company, BASF Vietnam Co., Ltd, was establised in 2009. This new company combined BASF Construction Chemicals Co., Ltd. with the operations of the representative offices, and positioned BASF to tap new opportunities for growth in the country.

In 2016, our footprint in Vietnam expanded with the inauguration of a second construction chemicals plant in the northern province of Bac Giang. The other facility is currently located in the sourthern province of Binh Duong.
