Oil production building in the middle of the water

Wintershall Norge is part of Wintershall Holding AG, which has its registered office in Kassel and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BASF SE in Ludwigshafen. Wintershall has already established itself as an active participant in the Exploration and Production sector in Norway. In December 2008 Wintershall acquired the former Norwegian oil and gas company Revus Energy ASA. Wintershall Norge AS is based in Stavanger.

Wintershall has been active in the North Sea since 1965. Wintershall Norge has around 50 licenses on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, making them one of the largest license holders in the region.

Norway is the fourth largest European producer of natural gas and one of the most important supplying countries for the European Union. With its proximity to the European market, Norway is predestined to supply Europe with natural gas and is thus a production site, which fits very well into BASF/Wintershall’s “Gas for Europe” strategy.
