Glasurit and Jaguar Land Rover Australia formalise strong partnership with Preferred Supplier Agreement
- BASF’s premium refinish paint brand Glasurit® has become the preferred supplier of Jaguar Land Rover in Australia
- This partnership builds on the success of the Asia Pacific partnership announced in 2020 and will enable BASF Australia to grow alongside Jaguar Land Rover in the luxury segment
- BASF Australia will support Jaguar Land Rover’s sustainability goals through its supply of low VOC 100 Line
Melbourne, Australia – 27 July 2023 – Glasurit®, BASF’s premium automotive refinishing brand, has been named the preferred supplier for refinishing paint for all Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Autobody Repairers in Australia.
The partnership builds on the success of the regional agreement BASF announced in 2020, where Glasurit became the preferred suppliers of JLR in Asia Pacific for importer countries, to support the development and implementation of the JLR Global Body & Paint Programme in Asia Pacific. This latest local agreement expands BASF's global footprint and demonstrates the continued trust and commitment to growing the partnership.
"It makes sense for us to partner with BASF and the Glasurit brand, as the most popular paint brand amongst our repairers. We look forward to working together with the team at BASF," said Damian Rea, Customer Service Director, JLR Australia.
BASF will work closely with JLR to tailor products and services to meet their needs as they transition from a premium to luxury brand, offering a more bespoke and tailored customer experience throughout the sales and aftersales process. The new agreement will further allow BASF to promote Glasurit coatings products and grow alongside JLR in the luxury segment.
"We're pleased to formalise our relationship with the fantastic team at this established OEM, particularly as they seek to fulfill their sustainability goals," said Madeleine Van, Strategic Account Manager.
JLR is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its operations and entire value chain by 2030, approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This forms part of the company’s strategy to achieve carbon net zero emissions across its supply chain, products and operations by 2039, including the desire to fully electrify the Jaguar range by 2025.
In the next five years, Land Rover will also welcome six pure electric variants as it continues to be the world leader of luxury SUVs, with the first all-electric Land Rover model in 2024.
BASF Coatings will support these goals through its supply of its low VOC 100 Line, the first basecoat line on the market with a VOC value of 250 g/l. This partnership is in line with BASF’s own sustainability corporate targets of net zero emissions by 2050 and 25% reduction by 2030. BASF continues to work closely with EV manufacturers to ensure all coatings products are able to be applied to new vehicle technology.
