BASF and Fraunhofer IPMS celebrate ten years of R&D collaboration on innovative solutions in the field of semiconductor manufacturing

Ludwigshafen, Germany – October 22, 2024, BASF and the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS are proud to look back on ten successful years of cooperation. Together, they have been working on innovative and customized solutions in the field of semiconductor production and chip integration as part of their “BASF Plating-Lab”. Within pilot tests at the Center Nanoelectronic Technologies (CNT) of Fraunhofer IPMS, strategies are developed and implemented to make materials and technologies in semiconductor integration more efficient and cost-effective.

BASF expands its BioSolutions offering by incorporating seaweed biostimulants from Acadian Plant Health™, a renowned marine plant harvesting, cultivation, and extraction company based in Dartmouth, Canada. “Now more than ever, farmers must pursue productivity and sustainability. We connect the best products, technologies, and services, to positively transform agriculture, impact food systems and, ultimately, society. BASF awarded a Red Dot for its unique automotive coating concept
 

The automotive color concept EFFLORESCENCE from BASF effectively demonstrates the compatibility of sustainability and design values. The monocoat combines all of its functionalities in a single layer – including a pearl-like visual effect without the use of traditional effect pigments, and a reduction of the car body heating due to more than 65% of light reflection. This unique approach has now been recognized within the Red Dot Award: Design Concept, one of the world’s most prestigious competitions that honors innovations as the precursors of tomorrow’s great products.

BASF and Evonik agree on first deliveries of biomass-balanced ammonia with reduced carbon footprint

BASF and its customer Evonik have agreed on the first delivery of BASF’s ammonia BMBcertTM grade. Thereby, both chemical companies demonstrate their commitment to offer products with a reduced product carbon footprint (PCF). With its ammonia BMBcert, BASF delivers to Evonik a product whose PCF is at least 65 % lower than the standard product.
