BASF launches new insecticide to protect rice crops in Indonesia
- New insecticide Xemco® 300 SC helps rice farmers control three major insect pests
- Stable rice yields support Indonesia’s goal towards rice self-sufficiency
- Indonesia is world’s first country to use Xemco 300 SC
Sukoharjo, Central Java, Indonesia – April 26, 2017 – BASF, a worldwide leader in crop protection, today introduced its new insecticide Xemco® 300 SC. The new product helps farmers to protect their rice crops from major sucking insect pests, particularly brown plant hoppers, and provides additional protection against the common pests stemborers and leaf folders.
With an effective control of the three insect pests at one time, farmers enjoy higher yields and save labor costs. At the same time, farmers can grow greener and healthier plants with the help of Xemco 300 SC.
Xemco 300 SC was introduced to 200 rice farmers at a launch event in Sukoharjo, Central Java. “Meeting Indonesian farmers’ growing demand for modern agricultural technologies is essential to support the country’s efforts towards food self-sufficiency and sustainable farming. With Xemco, we are offering rice farmers an innovative and highly effective solution that helps them secure their yields and grow healthier and higher quality crops,” said Saurin Shah, from BASF’s Crop Protection business in Indonesia.
Indonesia is the first market worldwide in which BASF has introduced Xemco 300 SC. Following its launch in Central Java, it will be marketed in key rice growing areas across Indonesia from April onwards and in other key rice producing countries in the near future.
Xemco 300 SC is the latest addition to BASF’s crop protection offer for rice in Indonesia, which includes the herbicides Tetris® and Basagran®.
