BASF has expanded production capacity for dispersions at its site in Durban, South Africa, strengthening the company’s ability to supply customers with high-quality dispersions used in architectural coatings, construction materials and the paper industry.
BASF to increase prices for additives in plastic applications
BASF is increasing prices for products in its antioxidant, process stabilizer and light stabilizer portfolio for plastic applications globally by up to 20 percent.
BASF and Catexel close the transaction for the optical brightening agent business
The sale of BASF’s optical brightening agent business to Catexel was completed end of February 2026. Optical brightening agents are ingredients in laundry detergent formulations. Both parties have agreed to keep the financial details of the transaction confidential.

BASF achieved important milestones in implementing its “Winning Ways” strategy
In the 2025 business year, the BASF Group faced an uncertain and very volatile global market environment with considerable headwinds. “We therefore mainly focused on the things we can control within the framework of our ‘Winning Ways’ strategy,” said BASF CEO Dr. Markus Kamieth when presenting the 2025 financial figures together with Chief Financial Officer Dr. Dirk Elvermann. The company reached significant milestones in its strategy implementation: “We successfully started up the major plants at our new Verbund site in Zhanjiang. We also accelerated our cost savings programs and significantly streamlined BASF’s organization. Moreover, we progressed swiftly and successfully with the announced portfolio measures,” Kamieth added. However, the year 2025 and particularly the fourth quarter did not develop as anticipated for BASF Group.

Thomas Biegi to Lead Corporate Communications and Government Relations at BASF as of April 2026
Thomas Biegi (47) will assume responsibility for BASF’s Corporate Communications and Government Relations department effective April 1, 2026. He succeeds Nina Schwab-Hautzinger and, in this role, will report to BASF’s Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, Markus Kamieth.
