BASF and employees contribute more than $50,000 to United Way of Southwest Alabama

MCINTOSH, AL, December 8, 2015 – The BASF site in McIntosh contributed more than $50,000 to United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA). The funds will assist more than 50 United Way partner agencies in Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile and Washington counties.

"Our partnership with United Way strengthens our local communities and positively changes the lives of those served by nonprofit agencies," said George Vann, Vice President of the BASF site in McIntosh. "This contribution is a commitment to invest in the most critical needs facing our area."

This year, BASF employee volunteers participated in United Way’s annual Day of Caring. Employees spent one day completing projects that local United Way partner agencies did not have the time, money, staff or additional resources to address.

BASF’s employee-led United Way campaign kicked off in the fall with a tailgate celebration, door-prize giveaway and employee pledge drive.

“United Way of Southwest Alabama thanks BASF and its employees for their continued support,” said Clifford Grimes, President and CEO of UWSWA. “Our mission is to improve the quality of life in the community, regardless of
where you are from or where you live and it is through contributions from companies like BASF that we are able to make this happen.”
