BASF named a Top Foreign Corporate Citizen in Canada
Company receives designation for second consecutive year
MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 7, 2016 -- BASF recently received the designation as one of Canada’s Top Foreign Corporate Citizens for the second consecutive year by Corporate Knights, a Toronto-based media and research company. The list includes companies with substantial operations in Canada that are considered global leaders in corporate citizenship.
“An important part of leading corporate citizenship is having strategic management systems in place that consider environmental, economic and societal sustainability aspects along the value-chain,” said Charlene Wall-Warren, Director of Sustainability for BASF Corporation. “Through our company’s Sustainable Solutions Steering® method, BASF analyzed over 60,000 solutions with plans to systematically increase our portfolio of innovative and sustainable solutions.”
Companies are evaluated based on sustainability disclosure practices, financial health, product categories and financial sanctions. To qualify, companies with global headquarters located outside of Canada must have a Canadian subsidiary on the 2015 Financial Post 500, the list of Canada’s biggest companies by revenue. The parent corporations must also qualify for Corporate Knights’ 2016 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations shortlist. In 2014, BASF was named in the Global 100 index of the world’s most sustainable corporations.
