BASF to increase prices for Butanediol in North America

FLORHAM PARK, NJ, June 1, 2016 – Effective July 1, 2016; or as existing contracts permit, BASF is raising its prices in North America for 1,4-Butanediol (BDO) by $0.04/pound (US Dollars 90/metric ton).

BDO and its derivatives are widely used for producing plastics, solvents, electronic chemicals and elastic fibers. With an annual production capacity of 670,000 metric tons globally and operating from plants in Ludwigshafen, Germany; Geismar, Louisiana; Kuantan, Malaysia; Caojing, China; Chiba, Japan and Korla, China, BASF is the leading producer of BDO globally.
