BASF recognizes four Michigan students for academic excellence
Students receive $8,000 in scholarships to pursue science-related degrees
WYANDOTTE, MI, June 24, 2016 – BASF recently awarded scholarships totaling $8,000 to four Michigan high school seniors through the company’s corporate scholarship program.
The corporate scholarship program recognizes children of BASF employees in the U.S. for academic excellence. Four of the 20 scholarships awarded this year went to children of BASF Michigan employees. Each student received a $2,000 scholarship.
“BASF encourages students to achieve academic excellence,” said Greg Pflum, Vice President and General Manager of BASF’s Midwest Hub. “By supporting students who pursue science-related degrees, we make an investment in our future team members and our community.”
The 2016 scholarship winners in Michigan were:
- Emilie Blair – Memorial High School, Wayne; University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
- Daniel Metzler – Pioneer High School, Ann Arbor; University of California, San Diego
- Alec Noon – Community High School, Flat Rock; University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
- Joshen Patel – Detroit Country Day High School, Beverly Hills; Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge
