BASF shares safety information with 900 Wyandotte neighbors

WYANDOTTE, MI, October 31, 2016 – As part of BASF’s ongoing commitment to Responsible Care^®, 50 employees from the Wyandotte site recently went door to door from Goddard to Eureka roads to share information about BASF’s operations and safety precautions with 900 local residents and business owners.

Responsible Care is the chemical industry’s voluntary initiative that encourages member companies to improve community and employee health and safety, enhance emergency preparedness and response, and communicate openly with neighbors.

During the day-long event, BASF team members provided residents and businesses with a brochure on alert notification procedures and shelter-in-place or evacuation safety instructions in the event of a community emergency.

“Responsible Care helps us to continuously improve our work culture in order to obtain the best conditions for safe operations and to protect people and the environment,” said Greg Pflum, Vice President and General Manager of BASF’s Midwest Hub. “Part of this improvement process is to foster the long-standing relationships we have built with our local community.”
