BASF Canada helps empower high school students with lifesaving skills

MISSISSAUGA, ON, February 17, 2017 – BASF Canada donated $10,000 to the Advanced Coronary Treatment (ACT) Foundation to assist their efforts to provide free cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillator training programs at high schools in the Peel Region.

“We are committed to supporting youth in the communities where we live and work, with a focus on science and safety education including CPR awareness and training,” said Marcelo Lu, President of BASF Canada. “At BASF, we also encourage our employees and their families to develop a safety mindset, whether that be in the workplace, at home or in our communities.”

The donation will help provide schools with the equipment to enable teachers to train students, including Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training units and mannequins.

“We appreciate the donation from BASF. This kind of support from corporations and the community is essential to making the program possible, building stronger communities and saving lives,” said Sandra Clarke, the ACT Foundation’s Executive Director.

The ACT Foundation is celebrating “Heart Month” with the launch of its program in more than 60 high schools in the Peel Region, reaching more than 17,000 students each year who will graduate with the skills and knowledge to save lives.
