BASF donates $10,000 to Missouri flood relief efforts

ST. LOUIS, June 8, 2017 — To help Missourians affected by recent flooding, BASF donated $10,000 to the American Red Cross of Eastern Missouri on behalf of its employees at the St. Louis site. The donation will help provide shelter, food, and assistance to those still impacted by the devastating storms that swept through the central and southern areas of the U.S. in late April.

“The St. Louis site was fortunate enough to withstand minimal damage from the flood, but we realize many in our community were not as fortunate,” said Chris Rogers, Site Manager at the BASF facility in St. Louis. “We hope our donation to the American Red Cross will help provide relief to those most in need as our community recovers from the effects of the recent flooding.”

Nearly 100 people in Missouri and Arkansas are still seeking refuge in Red Cross community shelters, and response vehicles are delivering food and relief supplies to the hardest-hit areas. Across the area, the Red Cross and community partners have served more than 49,000 meals and snacks, assessed 1,800 homes, and distributed nearly 73,000 relief items to flood victims.

“More than 1,500 Missouri families cannot return home because of the recent flooding,” said Cindy Erickson, CEO of the American Red Cross of Eastern Missouri. “This incredibly generous contribution from BASF allows the Red Cross to bring real help and hope to our neighbors in need.”
