BASF donates $10,000 to support wildlife and environmental education

WYANDOTTE, MI, June 20, 2017 – As part of its commitment to foster local wildlife and environmental education programs, BASF donated $10,000 to the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance (IWRA). The donation supports IWRA projects that promote stewardship, expand outreach, and assist with visitor services. It also helps increase public awareness of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge.

“This contribution supports IWRA’s mission to create a sustainable environment for our wildlife and provide valuable educational experiences for the community,” said Greg Pflum, Vice President and General Manager of BASF’s Midwest Hub. “We want to be a part of developing the next generation of conservation stewards.”

IWRA is a non-profit organization that protects wildlife and habitats while providing learning opportunities through programs like Eagle Tours at the Monroe Power Plant, World Wetlands Day, Hawk Fest and the Pointe Mouillee Waterfowl Festival.

“Our organization can only be successful with collaborative efforts among partners,” said Joann Van Aken, Executive Director of IWRA. “With BASF’s help we can continue our efforts to assist in the protection of the region’s natural resources and educate the public on the progress being made and those who help make it happen.”
