BASF research scientist receives professional award from the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers
WYANDOTTE, MI, November 2, 2017 – BASF employee Dr. Syed Ashraf was recognized with a Promising Professional Award by the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) during the SASE National Conference and STEM Career Fair 2017. The SASE awards celebrate technical excellence in science, engineering and technology, and recognize leadership in the industry.
A Senior Research Scientist in Polyurethane Systems at BASF, Dr. Ashraf received the award for driving innovation and developing market opportunities in the footwear industry using polyurethane elastomer/foams. Dr. Ashraf was nominated for the award by Vinny Sirani, BASF North American Sales Manager for Ultrason®.
“Dr. Ashraf’s professional contributions to BASF, together with his leadership abilities, initiative, and service to consumer markets, embodies the spirit of the SASE Promising Professional Award,” said Sirani.
Dr. Ashraf began his BASF career as a Technical Service Engineer and rose to the position of Product Development Chemist before becoming a Senior Research Scientist.
The SASE prepares Asian heritage scientists and engineers for success in the global business world.
