Who we are

Mural Project Opportunity at BASF Canada’s Windsor Site

Are you an Indigenous artist? Do you have a passion for creating art that shares a story?

This may be the opportunity for you!

BASF is looking for a local Indigenous artist to create an outdoor mural at our site, located at 845 Wyandotte Street West. Through this mural, we aim to celebrate the local Indigenous communities’ rich culture, values, and traditions and reflect the essence of the innovative paints and coatings we produce at the site—infusing your unique perspective into a striking visual masterpiece.

The selected mural will be showcased on our external wall facing Crawford Avenue, giving artists over 100 feet to make a bold statement and leave a lasting impact on everyone who visits our site!

Proposals will be accepted until May 30, 2025 at 11:59 P.M.

Only 1 nomination will be accepted per person, group or artist-led teams. The selected mural will be installed in the Summer of 2025.

Theme and content

The mural design should reflect the local Indigenous culture and heritage and incorporate an automotive theme that highlights the paints and coatings produced at our site.

Artists are expected to draw inspiration from their individual cultures for their design and art style.

Artists are welcome to visit our site to see and measure the space and gather inspiration. To visit our site, please contact Roberta Tamm at roberta.tamm@basf.com.

This Artist Call is open to all artists, groups, and artist-led teams living in Windsor-Essex who identify as First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. We encourage applications from contemporary and traditional Indigenous artists, Indigenous LGTBQ2S+ artists, and disabled Indigenous artists.

When will the artist be selected?

Judges will review the proposals in June. Once a winning design is selected, BASF will contact the artist directly to coordinate the next steps. This includes arranging the necessary materials and scheduling site visits for the mural painting.
