• CR is a new series of material grades, aiming at parts which are exposed to dynamic load. The world’s first plastic transmission crossbeam in the rear axle has been developed by ContiTech Vibration Control and BASF. It is made from Ultramid^® A3WG10 CR, a specialty polyamide which is particularly reinforced and optimized to withstand high mechanical loads.
• The all-plastics cross-beam enables a weight saving of 25% compared to conventional beams made from die-cast aluminum, better acoustics as well as excellent mechanical properties even at high temperatures while conforming to the latest crash requirements. Those properties were achieved with the contribution of BASF’s simulation tool Ultrasim^®.

Elastoflex^® spray foam is a PU semi-rigid foam. Compared with traditional rigid foam:
