Tecnoserve Workshops in East Africa

Diana Wairimu with the TecnoServe team in Tanzania

BASF East Africa’s Human Nutrition Account Manager, Diana Wairimu, attended the Technical Assistance Accelerator Programme (TAAP) Partners' Workshop organised by TechnoServe, supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The multi-sectoral workshop focused on advancing large scale food fortification across eight targeted regions, with Kenya serving as one of the hub countries of operation in East Africa.

The workshop was a good opportunity for key industry players such as manufacturers, flour millers & edible oil producers to provide a platform to facilitate discussions around innovations and tools that will be pursued to drive both self-regulation and effective monitoring across the entire value chain of food processing.

Diana presented BASF’s contributions and strategic partnerships in the fortification industry and highlighted the need for more collaboration with government agencies to support quality testing practices in fortified edible oil.
