Direct entry means "on the job" training - from day one you will accept responsibility for a subject area. With the "START IN Human Resources" trainee program we offer you project responsibility from day one as well as an assignment in another country, networking events and the support of a mentor.

With the "Welcome to BASF – BE PART" program our new employees are ideally prepared for their working environment. You can also take advantage of many opportunities to build up and expand your network. The program is supplemented by the "Welcome to HR" initiative.

We are Human Resources with passion and also want to see this passion in you! That's why we are looking for personalities who bring with them excellent technical qualifications as well as the desire to make a difference and achieve something great in a team.

You have completed your degree in business, law, social science or humanities with above-average grades. You have already gained some experience in HR work via internships; ideally you have already worked on projects and know the HR added value chain. You see yourself as a partner of business and are happy to accept responsibility. If you combine these characteristics with enthusiasm, you will find here a personal and international working environment with a variety of opportunities and long-term development perspectives.


You can work in our central HR organization, according to your area of work, on designing our HR products and processes and supporting their implementation - including in the following areas:

  • development of the HR strategy and processes for the whole BASF group
  • compensation & benefits
  • recruitment
  • qualification and development of our employees and managers
  • change management
  • personnel planning and controlling
  • personnel transfers
  • training
  • labor law

In addition, our group companies and business units have their own HR departments. As an HR Business Partner you will advise managers and employees on HR issues and be the first contact for all HR questions. You will implement HR instruments for the specific unit and support the design of central HR products and their development with your practical experience.

BASF will support you in actively organizing your development, e.g.:

  • as a specialist or generalist

  • within or beyond the HR environment.

In the individual annual development meeting we will discuss with you how you see your development.
