Let’s get old and keep in good shape together: Reusable tableware made of specialty plastic Ultrason®

The Japanese plastic products manufacturer Kyoraku, Tokyo, now uses BASF’s specialty plastic Ultrason® to add a unique tableware design concept to their comprehensive household goods portfolio: It is called Amberware and is made of Ultrason® E 3010 nat, an injection-molding and extrusion polyethersulfone (PESU) with improved toughness and high chemical resistance. The unique feature: Due to the original honey-colored tint of the PESU material, the plates have a light, transparent amber color.

BASF achieves mechanical completion for acrylics complex at Zhanjiang Verbund site

BASF has reached a major construction milestone at the Zhanjiang Verbund site with the successful mechanical completion of the first batch of plants in the acrylics complex, including the glacial acrylic acid (GAA) and butyl acrylate (BA) plants.

Light up Curiosity: BASF Kids’ Lab 2025 at the China Science and Technology Museum

Today, BASF’s widely-loved Kids' Lab program arrived at its Beijing stop at the China Science & Technology Museum (CSTM). This year, BASF introduced two new experiments, “The Secrets of Batteries” and “The Magic of Electrolysis”, helping children understand the chemical reactions behind batteries and explore the various applications of electrolysis. From 15 to 20 July, children between 6 and 12 years old are welcome to register and take part in the program at the CSTM.

BASF Coatings champions collaborative innovation in sustainable two-tone painting – recognized with award

BASF Coatings, in collaboration with Renault Group and Dürr, had redefined the future of automotive manufacturing with the Overspray-Free Application (OFLA) process (also known as Jetprint at Renault). The trio was awarded the “Trophée de l’Industrie s’engage 2025” in the Innovative Process category at the “L’industrie s’engage par l’Usine Nouvelle” event in June 2025. The award recognizes the Overspray-Free Application process – a breakthrough in sustainable application technology that redefines how two-tone vehicle painting is performed, setting a new benchmark in production by lowering operational cost and process time for the automotive OEM, while also reducing the environmental impact.
Operational since 2022, the Pinghu site in China is Chemetall’s largest production site globally.

Chemetall site in China receives recognition from Pinghu Dushan Port government for its commitment to drive sustainability

Zhejiang Chemetall Surface Treatment Materials Co., Ltd, the Pinghu site of the Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, has been recognized for its commitment to sustainability by the Economic Development and Ecological Environment Bureau in Pinghu Dushan Port, China. The site was commended for its pioneering efforts in achieving 100% renewable electricity coverage powered through the purchase of green electricity and implementation of photovoltaic power generation systems, serving as a reference for green and low-carbon transformation to other chemical firms in the industrial district.
