BASF and DBC donate safer playground to China Welfare Institute Kindergarten in Shanghai

Shanghai, China – September 28, 2018 – Children at China Welfare Institute (CWI) Kindergarten can play in a safe, high performance playground, thanks to a collaborative donation project by BASF and DuBaiCheng Environmental Protection Engineering Co., Ltd (DBC).

“We are committed to supporting education for children in a safe, healthy learning environment. We are inspired by Madam Soong Ching Ling, who said, ‘We shall give our children the best and help them flourish.’ By working with our partner DBC, we can ensure the playground is equipped with the protective flooring system that contains a special grade of Expanded Thermoplastic Polyurethane (E-TPU), Infinergy® SP from BASF. It provides high rebound performance and excellent impact absorption for students’ joints while lowering risks of exercise-related injuries.” said Dr. Zheng Daqing, BASF’s Senior Vice President, Business and Market Development Greater China.

In addition, BASF also donated an inge® water purification system to the kindergarten. With effective and reliable removal of microorganisms and viruses as well as consistent high level of filtration, the system will provide clean and safe drinking water to the children.

“Over the past three years, BASF and DBC have been collaborating to provide safer environments for school children across China through several donation initiatives. In 2017, through the China Social Welfare Foundation’s ‘Design with Love’ Charity project, a new playground was installed for students in the Zhangjiajie Miaopu Hope Primary school in Hunan province, China. In addition, the polyurethane adhesive solution used for the floor structure does not contain any heavy metals, meeting China’s stringent national safety and environmental standards,” added Dr. Zheng.
