BASF reaches out to less privileged children in Indonesia
- BASF employees in Indonesia join yearly breakfasting tradition for sixth consecutive year
- “BASF Care to Share” program brings joy and smiles to children from two welfare homes
Jakarta, Indonesia – June 13, 2017 – Continuing an annual tradition for the sixth consecutive year, employees and management from BASF came together for a breakfasting event with less privileged children on June 12. Around 110 children from two welfare homes, Panti Yatim Indonesia and Yayasan Nurul Iman Jafariah, participated in the “BASF Care to Share” program, which was held at Lotte Shopping Avenue in Jakarta.
At this annual program, employee volunteers joined the less privileged children in breakfasting and connected with them through games organized during the event. “Through this program, we hope to bring festive joy and cheer to the children, while encouraging our employees to become involved in the communities where we operate,” said Daniel Loh, President Director of BASF Indonesia.
“We aim to ensure our initiatives and operations make a positive contribution to society. The Ramadhan month is an ideal time for us to help less privileged children celebrate, providing them with a joyful and memorable experience,” added Daniel.
Along with the breakfasting celebration, BASF employees in Indonesia also donated money which was used to purchase educational gifts for the children such as stationery and books. BASF additionally provided in-kind donations in the form of staple foods, mattresses and electronic items, to fulfill the basic needs of the homes.
BASF focuses its social engagement efforts in Indonesia on children and education. The company also organizes BASF Kids’ Lab, a hands-on science experiment program for children, and sponsors the Bersama BASF Kita Ke Sekolah and UNESCO Book Donation programs. These programs support development and education of the next generation in Indonesia.
