BASF employees bring the spirit of Ramadan to less privileged children in Indonesia
- BASF employees share iftar meals in annual tradition with less privileged children from communities in Indonesia
- “BASF Care to Share” program brings joy and smiles to children in two welfare homes
Jakarta, Indonesia – June 5, 2018 – Continuing an annual tradition for the seventh consecutive year, employees and management from BASF came together for a Ramadan iftar with less privileged children on June 4, 2018. Children from two welfare homes, Panti Yatim Indonesia, and Panti Yayasan Remaja Masa Depan at The Ice Palace, participated in the fast-breaking event at Lotte Shopping Avenue in Jakarta.
Around 100 employee volunteers joined the less privileged children in iftar meals and engaged them with games during the event. “BASF Care to Share has brought our employees and community together to celebrate the festive season. This is our goal of improving the quality of life in the surroundings of our sites for everybody – neighbors, employees and their families. We encourage our employees to contribute to the local community by volunteering in programs that support the development of a higher quality life for our children,” said Daniel Loh, President Director of BASF Indonesia.
Since starting the Care to Share program in 2012, BASF has been focusing its social engagement efforts in Indonesia on children and education. Annually, BASF provides in-kind donations in the form of staple foods, electronics, and household items to welfare homes. In addition, BASF employees in Indonesia voluntarily raise funds to provide the children with school materials, such as stationery and books.
BASF Indonesia also organizes BASF Kids’ Lab, a hands-on science experiment program for children, as well as the Bersama BASF Kita ke Sekolah and UNESCO Book Donation to support the development of the next generation in Indonesia.
