Joint Press Release

Teikoku Databank, SAP Japan, and BASF partner to link ERP and Japan’s largest company information database to make speedy credit assessments

Tokyo, Japan, March 24, 2020 - Teikoku Databank Ltd., SAP Japan, and BASF Japan Ltd. have collaborated on a project of API integration between SAP® Credit Management service for ERPs and the largest company information database in Japan, which is provided by Teikoku Databank. This partnership significantly improves efficiency in conducting credit management. BASF Japan plans to adopt this service in April this year.

As various forms of risk management become crucial to a company’s growth, credit management and information gathering about new business partners have become important. However, in the past, most credit management process were conducted manually, leading to issues in efficiency.

Through this joint project, users of SAP’s ERP product including SAP S/4HANA®, SAP S/4HANA® Cloud, and SAP® ERP will be able to use the SAP Credit Management service which manages business partners’ credit ratings and payment histories with Teikoku Databank’s COSMOSNET API in order to access the company information database. Companies will now be able to conduct efficient credit management by adding highly accurate, real-time information from Teikoku Databank about suppliers and business partners, from earnings and ratings, to the information centrally managed in the SAP Credit Management service.

Working together, Teikoku Databank and SAP Japan will begin providing this solution.

Previously, BASF Japan had to acquire company information from Teikoku Databank’s database and manually conduct the risk assessment in its internal SAP-based credit management system. To eliminate the time-consuming and inefficient process, BASF Japan initiated this joint project to connect these services with SAP and Teikoku Databank. The three companies worked together to create the most suitable solution for BASF’s operation.

“Digitalization is an integral part of BASF’s corporate strategy to drive business growth,” said Nobuhiro Suda, Representative Director and Vice President of BASF Japan Ltd. “We expect that the integration of those services will significantly speed up our business with customers by improving the efficiency and accuracy of the credit management process.”
