BASF achieves 50 years with zero lost-time injuries at Rokuromi site in Japan

Tokyo, Japan – August 21, 2020 – BASF celebrated its 50 consecutive years of zero lost time injuries at the Rokuromi site in Yokkaichi, Mie. On August 18, 2020, the production plant has operated without a lost-time injury for 18,263 days since 1970.

“We are committed to ensuring safety at our site through various day-to-day activities. BASF engages in daily maintenance process as well as safety and instrumentation maintenance while implementing the ‘5S methodology’ at the site, according to the principles of seiri (sorting), seiton (set in order), seiso (systematic cleaning), seiketsu (standardizing), and shitsuke (sustaining),” said Kouzoh Kubota Vice President of BASF Japan. “Achieving 50 years of zero lost-time injury is the result of our continuous efforts to put safety first.”

Under the brand name Acronal®, the Rokuromi site produces acrylic dispersions used in coatings and adhesives. The plant also supplies customers across Japan with styrene and acrylic polymers used in printing inks and functional coatings, marketed as Joncryl®.
