Seoul, Korea – November 14, 2018 – BASF, the world’s leading chemical company, will host its interactive science education program, BASF Kids’ Lab, on November 14 in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, and on November 22 in Ulsan, South Gyeongsang Province, Korea. 70 students, from Hwayang Elementary School and Sora Elementary School in Yeosu, as well as 85 students from Sunam Elementary School in Ulsan, will conduct safe, hands-on science experiments at BASF Kids’ Lab. This year, the program will include the “disappearing water” and “color-color-change” experiments, as well as other science activities such as a science magic show. Technical engineers from each BASF site volunteer as guides to help the children understand the chemistry behind the experiments. “BASF’s social engagement activities in Korea focus on science education. Conducted for over 20 years, BASF Kids’ Lab demonstrates our commitment to supporting the local community,” said Young Yull Kim, Managing Director of BASF in Korea. “We will continue to provide inspiring chemistry programs to help ignite children’s interests in science.”

First established in 1997 in Germany, BASF Kids’ Lab takes place annually in more than 30 countries around the world, with the aim to encourage children’s interest in chemistry. In 2003, the program was held for the first time in Korea in Ulsan, and subsequently expanded to Seoul, Yeosu, and Gunsan. Since then, around 5,400 children in Korea have participated.

Kids’ Lab programs were also held in Suwon in September, and at the Daejeon Science Festival in October.
