Executives from BASF Korea receive Presidential Commendation and Ministerial Award at Annual Trade Day
- BASF executives SangHoon Shin and SangYoung Lee recognized for individual contributions to export expansion, chemical industry and overseas market development
Seoul, Korea – December 5, 2019 – Two executives from BASF Korea were recognized for contributing to the growth of Korea’s chemical industry at the “2019 Contributor Award and Export Tower” ceremony.
SangHoon Shin, Head of Specialties Development Team, BASF Korea, received the Presidential Commendation for his contributions in expanding exports and local sales of chemical raw materials for a variety of industries, with his expertise in organic chemistry of more than 14 years. In particular, Shin developed a synthesizing application of CCD (carbonyl chloride derivatives), a key ingredient for chemical, agricultural, and lifestyle products. He also played a crucial role in achieving record-high production rates at the company’s Yeosu site and increasing sales through new market development.
SangYoung Lee, Head of the Engineering and Maintenance and Logistics Cluster, BASF Korea, was recognized with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy Ministerial Award for his efforts in strengthening the competitiveness of Korea’s material industry through the development of innovative advanced polyurethane material technology. He attracted foreign investment for plant constructions in Korea and implemented various maintenance systems supported by digitalization at BASF Korea. His work in the industry for the past 26 years has helped pioneer the industry and strengthen its global competitiveness.

The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) presented a total of ten governmental awards to individual contributors in export expansion, quality enhancement, pioneering overseas markets, and job creation in celebration of the 56th Annual Trade Day.
