Taipei, Taiwan – August 31, 2016 – BASF has been awarded “Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility” in Taiwan for the fourth consecutive year by CommonWealth Magazine. BASF ranked in the top five multinational companies for the second time.
“To be named as one of Taiwan’s top corporate citizens for four consecutive years is an excellent achievement for BASF Taiwan. At BASF, we combine economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility and integrate responsible practices into our daily business operations. We leverage our expertise and connections in the chemical industry to support local communities tackling challenges for a more sustainable future,” said Eng Leong Goh, managing director of BASF Taiwan.
BASF is active in science education for young people in Taiwan and around the world. With interesting, safe chemistry experiments designed for children, BASF Kids’ Lab has inspired Taiwan’s younger generations to discover the wonder of the natural sciences since 2007. Additionally, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of BASF Kids’ Lab in Taiwan, BASF launched Virtual Kids’ Lab to help kids explore the world of chemistry without the boundaries of time and place. BASF was commended for its efforts in passing down its corporate citizenship initiatives and experiences and integrating them successfully into the local culture.
BASF lives its corporate purpose, “We create chemistry for a sustainable future”, by sourcing and producing responsibly, acting as a fair and reliable partner, and connecting creative minds to find the best solutions for market needs. This includes providing solutions that meet sustainability goals in areas such as agriculture, construction, mobility and public health, maintaining industrial safety and environmental protection, and bringing sustainability practices to the broader industry.
