Headline® 100CS from BASF helps growers improve plant health and increase yields

  • Effective disease control solution for paddy rice
  • First AgCelence® product for rice available in Vietnam

Long An, Vietnam – June 8, 2016 – BASF’s Headline® 100CS, a fungicide designed to support farmers to produce high quality rice more efficiently, is now available in Vietnam. With its innovative encapsulation technology, Headline 100CS ensures a controlled release of the active ingredient. This allows better and long lasting product performance and better protection of the environment surrounding the plant.

Outstanding disease control
Headline 100CS is an effective fungicide for controlling key rice diseases such as neck blast, dirty panicle and leaf blast, which pose huge challenges to Vietnamese farmers and threaten rice quality and yields across the country.

“We spend a lot of effort on controlling diseases and improving overall rice health day in and day out. It’s important for us to have one solution that’s highly effective and economically viable. After using Headline 100CS to treat the affected rice field areas, I am very happy to see that the lesions subsided quickly,” said Mr. Tran Huu Toan, a farmer in Thu Thua district, Long An province. “Thanks also to its long-lasting effectiveness in improving rice quality, we now can enjoy the benefit of having higher yields and better profits. With Headline 100CS, my yield has increased by 5 percent as compared to last season,” added Mr. Huynh Kim Loc, a farmer from Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province.

Special formulation for the use in paddy rice
Headline 100CS is a highly effective solution specifically developed to help rice farmers protect their plants from fungal diseases, while preserving the aquatic environment. Its special encapsulation technology ensures a precise release of the blockbuster active ingredient F 500® directly on the rice leaf surface, where it acts. Such encapsulation technology considerably improves the toxicological profile of the product compared to conventional formulations and is a result of BASF’s global innovation network.

Better crop protection with AgCelence® benefits
Headline 100CS is also part of BASF’s AgCelence portfolio: aside from disease protection, it also promotes benefits such as higher rice yields and better grain quality. The product helps rice plants stay healthier with greener leaves, reducing the negative impact of heat stress. “Headline 100CS is a perfect example of our commitment to go the extra mile for farmers. Not only does it control major diseases, it also helps ensure higher quality rice by reducing unwanted broken or chaffy rice. This translates into higher rice prices for farmers and better quality rice for consumers,” said Leon van Mullekom, Crop Protection Business Director for the ASEAN region, BASF.
