3G Provisions for accessing the BASF Ludwigshafen site

Following the revision to the Infection Protection Act, 3G provisions are now mandatory at the workplace as of November 24, 2021. For the Ludwigshafen site, BASF has implemented these specific measures:

Everyone working on-site must be either vaccinated, have recovered from COVID-19 or provide proof of a current negative test.

This applies to all units, from Production to Technical Services, from Research and Development to all the service units required on site. The 3G provisions also apply to employees from partner companies and all visitors.

On January 15, 2022, the Federal Government amended the Corona Ordinance. This also affects access to the BASF site.

For those who have recovered, this means the following:

The duration of the recovered status is reduced from six months to a maximum of 90 days. The recovered status therefore begins on day 28 after the infection detected by a test (PCR, PoC-PCR or comparable test) and ends on day 90. Anyone who currently has access to the site with proof of recovery must therefore check the validity of their evidence or, if necessary, upload valid 3G certificates to the system or present a negative test to BASF every day in order to gain access to the site.

The well-known test centers are available for this purpose.

From Monday, February 7th, access to the site will only be possible with a certificate of convalescence that complies with the new rules.

For vaccinated people this means the following:

The following vaccines are recognized in Germany:

- Comirnaty® by BioNTech/Pfizer

- Spikevax® (Vaccine Moderna) by Moderna

- Vaxzevria® by AstraZeneca

- Janssen® by Johnson & Johnson

- Nuvaxovid® by Novavax

Vaccination with any other vaccine is not sufficient to gain factory access. In this case, a negative test must also be presented in order to gain access to the site.

Access to the site premises from December 7, 2021

Access for vaccinated and convalescent people

Anyone who has been vaccinated or recovered can document this status in the web application 3G acquisition Ludwigshafen site. This activates the works ID card and access to the works premises is possible as usual.

Employees who have neither been vaccinated nor recovered require a valid test certificate. You can either store this in the web application 3G acquisition Ludwigshafen site. Or you can have the certificate recorded in one of the two inspection points from December 2nd. You can then access the factory premises as usual.

Who is considered vaccinated, recovered or tested?

Vaccinated persons are those who have proof of a COVID-19 vaccination issued to them. Recovered applies to a person who has already been infected with SARS-CoV-2 and who was subsequently tested, generally by a PCR test. Recovery from the infection must be at least 28 days ago, up to a maximum of 3 months. A tested person is one who carries proof of a negative SARS-CoV-2 test performed on them. The test must be approved and cannot be older than 24 hours.

Do I always have to carry proof of my 3G status on the site premises?

Yes, everyone on the site premises must have their respective daily proof readily available for checks by the respective authorities.

What happens if the second vaccine – or the first for people who have recovered – was administered more than six months ago?

The validity of the proof of vaccination is based on the date of receiving the second vaccination. This period is 12 months. The certificate confirming recovery from an infection with COVID-19 is based on the date provided by the respective health authority. This period is six months.

What applies to contractors, visitor and BASF employees from other sites?

The entire spatial scope of the site regulations is designated as a 3G area. In this respect, contractors, visitors, etc. must also show a 3G certificate.

People who already have a permanent ID card can upload their 3G certificate using the web application or have it recorded in one of the two inspection points.

The 3G status of visitors, technicians, etc. who receive a day ID card is checked directly when the ID card is issued.

What happens if an employee has forgotten their site ID?

Site security, which issues temporary IDs, also has access to the data stored in the web application and can thus allow access on this basis.

Do I have to upload the vaccination certificate again after receiving boost-vaccination?

No. Anyone who has already received a positive test report based on the previous vaccination certificate does not have to upload the booster vaccination certificate into the system. The company ID card remains activated.

Does the test result upon entry have to be valid for at least the duration of my working hours, i.e. can the 24h validity period of my test expire during my time on the site premises?

The test must always be valid when entering the site (e.g. even after an external lunch break). The site must be vacated before the end of the test.

Will certificates for booster vaccines also be accepted for digital registration?

Yes.

Why does the application approval sent in the email state that access to the site is granted until 2099?

The validity of the proof of vaccination is currently not limited. The year 2099 is simply a technical date that represents the currently unlimited period of validity.

What do I do if my vaccination certificate does not have a QR code, or if I do not have a digital vaccination certificate?

You can also register in the web application using the vaccination certificate insert from the BASF vaccination center. When uploading this insert, please ensure it is complete and that all details (first name, last name, date of birth) are legible.

If you only have the yellow vaccination booklet, you can show this and your personal or site ID at one of the two certificate inspection centers to have your site ID activated. You can also go to a pharmacy and receive a vaccination certificate with a QR code.

What are the opening hours of the certificate inspection centers?

What should I do if my test certificate does not have a QR code?

Test certificates without QR codes can also be uploaded to the system if the data provided can be read easily and checked. It is also possible to show a test certificate without a QR code along with your personal or site ID at one of the two certificate inspection centers. Your site ID will then be activated for 24 or 48 hours.

Following the initial registration process, can I use the 3G portal again without having to register each time?

No. Every process here requires a new registration.

I had a Covid infection more than six months ago and therefore have complete vaccination protection with just one vaccination. In my CovPass app, however, it says "incomplete vaccination protection". How do I prove that I am completely vaccinated?

Please go to one of the two inspection points with your recovery and vaccination certificate. Your company ID will be permanently activated there.
