  • BASF at CHINAPLAS 2018: April 24-27 at 7.2J61, National Exhibition & Convention Center, Shanghai, China

Shanghai, China – April 12, 2018 – In a unique collaboration, BASF has partnered with renowned Taipei fashion designer Enchi Shen to create a concept fashion show featuring more than 20 new material applications from the world of chemistry.

Enchi Shen, Brand Director and Founder of fashion powerhouse 7Crash, has collaborated with BASF to create groups of outfits for a series of three thematic vignettes, each with a different look: Sporty 2018, Futuristic 2028, and Outerspace 2028. The looks include casual outerwear, eveningwear, as well as functional and protective clothing.

In this concept show, BASF will launch a range of material applications for fashion and design. String made of Elastollan TPU, a versatile material that can be extruded into different forms to provide designers with design freedom. With Haptex, an innovative polyurethane (PU) solution, BASF delivers a breakthrough in fashion with synthetic leather that offers good haptics, strong stitching, and high peel strength. BASF will also introduce fiber made of Elastollan TPU. Its low heat setting temperature enables fabrics to dry quickly and also saves energy in its production and daily use.

Models will also be donning unique outfits made of polypropylene non-woven fabric, as well as polyethylene yarn that has been formulated with the latest-generation light stabilizer, Tinuvin® XT 55. This is normally used for making artificial turf. These have been created by designer Enchi Shen to showcase BASF’s material solutions.

Auxiliary highlights framing the concept show include accessory products representing the thematic vignettes: a center console frame for vehicles containing Ultramid® Deep Gloss, chrome plating in a door handle interior, a firefighter’s helmet with Ultrason® E (Polyethersulfone, PESU) and a fire hose made with Elastollan® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) solutions.
