BASF Thailand presents trinamiX’s innovative solution for plastic sorting to Chulalongkorn University

BASF Thailand, represented by Wayoon Poonperm, Country Development-Thailand, and Paninlada Mavichak, Sales Manager, presented a starter kit of trinamiX’s Mobile NIR Spectroscopy Solution for plastic sorting to the Department of the Environment, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, represented by Associate Professor Dr. Pasicha Chaikaew, Head of Department, and Associate Professor Dr. Nuta Supakata.

The university was the only organization in Thailand selected from the "Plastic Waste Challenge" initiative, organized by trinamiX (a subsidiary of BASF Group) in partnership with the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, in which BASF is a founding member. The initiative was aimed at raising awareness on the importance of plastic identification and promoting joint actions to tackle plastic waste issue in the most sustainable way. Chulalongkorn University will also utilize the solution for its “Chula Zero Waste” program, an on-campus waste management program, and its plastic waste management project in Koh Si Chang.

The Mobile NIR Spectroscopy Solution for plastic sorting is an innovative tool developed by trinamiX headquartered in Germany. It uses technology based on near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, a well-proven analysis method that trinamiX has made affordable and accessible to help detect and distinguish a broad range of plastic types on the spot. As a result, trinamiX improves the efficiency of plastic recycling from a very early stage with high-quality sorting that supports many industries on the path towards circular economy.
