BASF Kids' Lab Brings Climate Action Learning to Young Changemakers in Yeola

Yeola, Maharashtra, 9 July 2026 – BASF India recently concluded its Kids’ Lab program on the theme of Climate Action at Kapse Foundation, Vadgaon, Maharashtra, engaging 2198 students from 13 schools in Nashik district through hands-on chemistry experiments.

To deliver the program, BASF India collaborated with Kapse Foundation, a social enterprise in Maharashtra that empowers rural communities by preserving and promoting the traditional art of Paithani weaving—a 2,000-year-old handwoven silk textile craft renowned for its intricate designs and cultural significance, and Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj (MVP), Nashik, a 112-year-old educational trust serving rural and tribal students that supported the program through mentor and volunteer engagement as well as venue coordination.

BASF Kids' Lab inspires children's curiosity in chemistry through hands-on experiments focused on sustainability and climate awareness. The program encourages scientific thinking, builds confidence in exploration, and helps young learners understand how everyday actions can contribute to a more sustainable future, inspiring the next generation of climate champions.

The expansion of BASF Kids’ Lab reflects its commitment to community engagement and chemistry education. With successful editions held in Chennai, Navi Mumbai, Mangalore, Bangalore, Delhi and Nashik, the program has now touched the lives of over 62,000 schoolchildren across India.

Pradip Balasaheb  Sangle, studying in class 7th, Janta vidhyalaya Mukhed; after experiencing the BASF Kids‘ Lab said,“ At BASF Kids’ Lab, I learned that our everyday actions can either harm or protect the environment. Pollution in our oceans and littering on land affect animals, nature, and even the climate. If we take responsibility, avoid littering, protect trees, and keep our surroundings clean, we can help make India greener again. Every small action matters, and together we can create a better future for our planet..”

For many participants, the exposure to practical science learning was not only educational but transformational, opening new possibilities and aspirations beyond the classroom.

Alexander Gerding, Managing Director, BASF India Limited and Head of BASF Group Companies in India, said: "At BASF, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn through exploration and discovery. Through Kids' Lab, we are not only introducing young minds to the wonders of chemistry but also helping them understand their role in addressing climate challenges. By encouraging curiosity, critical thinking and sustainability awareness, we hope to inspire the next generation of innovators and climate champions who will contribute to building a better future for their communities and our planet."

Balkrishna Kapse, Managing Trustee-Kapse Foundation, Yeola, said: "Empowering the youth of rural Nashik requires collaboration, vision, and a commitment to providing them with the exposure they deserve. We are deeply thankful to BASF and MVP Nashik for making this initiative a reality. Your support ensures that these students have the tools and confidence to step onto a larger stage and succeed."

Adv. Nitin B. Thakare, Sarchitnis- Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj, Nashik, said: "Thank you, BASF, for looking beyond the city limits and bringing such meaningful initiatives to our rural students. When kids from these areas are given the right platform and exposure, their potential is limitless.
