Im Testlabor für Katalysatoren der BASF in Union bereitet Techniker David Colon einen Katalysator für einen Testlauf am Motorenprüfstand vor. In Labor- und Motorenprüfständen werden Katalysatoren unter Dauerbelastung getestet. Moderne Prüftechnik ermöglicht es, die Lebensdauer eines Dreiwegekatalysators (Gesamtlaufleistung ca. 190.000 Kilometer) in rund 50 bis 100 Stunden zu simulieren.

At BASF Catalysts' testing facility in Union technician David Colon sets up a catalyst test in the Engine Laboratory. Catalysts are subjected to long term stress testing in the Engine Laboratory. Modern testing technology makes it possible to simulate three-way-catalyst durability (120,000 miles of catalyst activity) in 50-100 hours.
