BASF and JA Malaysia Empower Young Voices for a Sustainable Future
- One-day sustainability innovation challenge engaged 56 high school students in Selangor
- Students explored climate change, UN SDGs, design thinking and solution pitching
- Program builds on BASF's global collaboration with JA Worldwide to equip youth with future-ready skills
Petaling Jaya, July 7, 2026 – BASF Malaysia and Junior Achievement (JA) Malaysia brought together 56 students for Young Voices for a Sustainable Future, a one-day sustainability innovation challenge designed to inspire young people to develop solutions to real-world sustainability challenges.
Held at BASF Malaysia's Bandar Utama office, the program introduced students to climate change, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and design thinking. Working in teams, participants explored sustainability challenges while strengthening problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills.
Supported by BASF employee volunteers, students took part in interactive activities including the "BASF All Around Us" session, which showcased how chemistry and BASF innovations contribute to everyday life and a more sustainable future.
The program will conclude in a pitching competition at a later event, where students will present their ideas to a panel of judges. The team with the most innovative and impactful solution will be crowned as Champion.
The event was also attended by Tuan Khairul Anuar Abdul Azidy, Assistant Director, Student Talent Development (Co-curricular Sub-Unit), Selangor State Education Department, reflecting a shared commitment to youth development, sustainability education and community engagement.
The Malaysian program forms part of BASF's global partnership with JA Worldwide, which aims to empower young people around the world with sustainability knowledge, practical skills and opportunities to create positive impact in their communities.
