Wie Hohlbauteile in automatisierter Großserie zu wettbewerbsfähigen Kosten hergestellt werden können, zeigt der diesjährige Preisträger des JEC World Innovation Awards in der Kategorie „RTM“: Das Gemeinschaftsprojekt der Firmen KTM Technologies, H2K Minerals, Teufelberger und BASF stellt eine integrative Betrachtung der Prozesskette dar. Das „Cavus“ genannte Projekt hat dabei ein geometrisch komplexes Hohlbauteil mit Hinterschnitten am Beispiel eines Mountainbike-Lenkers umgesetzt. Der Technologiedemonstrator vereint aktuelle Fertigungsmethoden mit ausgereiften Materialien zu einem großserienfähigen Verfahren für wettbewerbsfähigen Leichtbau in der Automobilbranche und anderen Industrien.This year’s winner in the RTM category at the JEC World Innovation Awards shows how hollow parts can be mass-produced in an automated process at competitive prices. The joint project of KTM Technologies, H2K Minerals, Teufelberger and BASF takes an integrative view of the process chain. The project called “Cavus” implemented a geometrically complex hollow part with undercuts by producing a mountain bike handlebar. The technology demonstrator combines the latest processing technologies with mature materials in a procedure for the mass production of competitive lightweight parts in the automotive and other industries.

Die BASF bietet jetzt einen zusätzlichen Service für Polyurethansysteme im Automobilinnenraum an. Das BASF-Simulationswerkzeug Ultrasim® ist so erweitert worden, dass sich das Verhalten von PU-Systemen beim Schäumen im geschlossenen wie im offenen Werkzeug zuverlässig vorhersagen lässt. Besonders erfolgreich hat sich der neue Service im Einsatz für Instrumententafeln aus dem Halbhartsystem Elastoflex® E erwiesen. Der internationale Automobilzulieferer Yanfeng Automotive Interiors nutzt die virtuelle Prozessauslegung für Instrumententafeln, die er für aktuelle Fahrzeuge wie den BMW X1 herstellt.

BASF now offers an additional service for polyurethane systems in automotive interiors. BASF’s Ultrasim® simulation tool has been expanded so that the behavior of PU systems during foaming can now be reliably predicted for both open and closed molds. The new service has proved especially successful with instrument panels made with the Elastoflex® E semi-rigid system. The international automotive supplier Yanfeng Automotive Interiors is using the virtual process design for the instrument panels it manufactures for current models such as the BMW X1.
