Embark on research as a biologist in the world’s leading chemical company.

Committed and competent biologists always have perspectives at BASF. Future-oriented technologies such as plant biotechnology, biocatalysis or new processes to efficiently use resources and energy generate a variety of highly interesting projects. Together with colleagues from other departments and important cooperation partners, you will work on scientific questions and their realization into marketable products. This process goes hand-in-hand with your own initiative and responsibility – because only so can we develop the innovations of the future together.

University graduates with several years of professional experience will find attractive career opportunities in BASF’s research community. As a rule you will start as an expert in one of the research departments within Bioscience Research or Crop Protection, and depending upon your experience will have either direct project or management responsibility. Our operational units and competence centers are also looking for new colleagues with expertise, for example in bio-information technology, toxicology, eco-toxicology, product safety, environmental monitoring, patents or scientific information.

Apply to one of our job postings or send us your unsolicited application.

You are a biologist with a PhD focusing on molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, toxicology, plant biology or bioinformation technology, have successfully completed your PhD and already have several years of industrial experience.

You are open to new things and enjoy tackling scientific and technical challenges that you approach purposefully and try to solve using creative ideas. Working in an interdisciplinary environment is one of your strengths and you know how to lead a team to achieve the best results. You can also communicate self-confidently in English and you see business travel as an opportunity to further develop your linguistic and intercultural skills.

Usually you will start in one of the global research divisions specializing in biology research: Bioscience Research or Crop Protection.

In Bioscience Research we seek new ways of increasing agricultural productivity and meeting the need for healthy food using biotechnological methods as well as research in new crop protection products, making sure our solutions meet the highest standards in human and environmental safety. Biologists also work here in the areas of industrial biotechnology, bioinformatics or (eco)toxicology.

In the Crop Protection division biologists work both on scientific challenges relating to crop protection and on product safety and registration.

There is also the option to join one of our other business units as a biologist - for example in technical marketing or registration.

You can expect demanding tasks in research and product development with a high level of personal responsibility. From the very start you will work on a specific research project.

Your tasks will include project management and registering patents. An essential part of your work will be intensive collaboration with internal partners from research and development, marketing and production.

In addition, depending on the project, you will also support international research cooperation or lead a team of employees.

You will receive on-the-job training in a committed, competent team.

We offer attractive working conditions and excellent development opportunities. In essence, two career paths are open to you: the scientific path as a subject expert in research or in one of the many development opportunities in other areas such as toxicology, eco-toxicology, product safety, environmental monitoring, patents or knowledge management, sales, marketing, internal management consulting, technology and innovation scouting, communication and HR.

Many continuing education and training measures such as seminars or "on-the-job" training will support you in your plans.
