BASF’s manufacturing presence in Louisiana includes operations in Geismar, North Geismar, and Vidalia.

The three BASF sites employ nearly 3,000 employees and contractors and invest nearly $300 million in the state through annual payroll, purchases, taxes and charitable contributions. BASF in Louisiana is committed to being a great place to work and an exemplary community partner.

BASF Intermediates to produce amines at the Geismar site using 100 percent renewable electricity

BASF’s Intermediates division has announced that its standard grade amine portfolio will soon be produced by 100% renewable electricity credited to the Geismar, Louisiana Verbund site. The transition is set to begin in Q4 2025 and continue through 2026, complementing the transition currently underway in Europe. Renewable electricity will be generated through the application of solar and wind renewable electricity credits and allocated to the amines portfolio in Geismar.

Twenty-seven area high school students recently completed BASF’s TECH Academy – a week-long educational and workforce development program hosted at River Parishes Community College (RPCC). TECH Academy encourages students to learn more about technical and craft careers through experiments, demonstrations, field trips and interactions with industry professionals.
