BASF Antwerp
Collection and transport of waste at the BASF Antwerp site
Administrative planning process
Preparation
Carriers are required to send their registration and/or permit to transport waste in Flanders and if relevant for the destination of the waste in any other region and/or EU Member State.
Carriers are requested to register themselves and connect with BASF Antwerp (BASF) in the Ewastra-platform for the handling of the digital ID-form for transports within Flanders.
Receive transport order
A few days before loading, you will receive the transport order via E-mail (“transportaanvraag”). There you can find all information on the waste and the shipment, including the references needed to check-in at the BASF site on the day of loading.
Relevant for waste shipment within Flanders where BASF acts as collector: The digital ID-form will be available for your purposes on the Pionira-platform, where you need to assign the driver to the shipment. In case another party is acting as collector, instructions on the ID-form will come from them.
All necessary waste data is included in the transport order. We expect our carrier to send the correct tank type or recipient for the waste. Additional information can be found in the appendices Safety Instructions (general), vehicle requirements bulk BASF Antwerp (password BASF2020, specific for bulk liquids) and Cargosecuring BASF Antwerp (specific for packaged goods).
Day of loading
Trucks for waste enter and leave our site via Gate 6. See further details in Actual Loading Process.
Billing
The information on the billing address is included in the transport order. It is mandatory to place the purchase order on the first page of the invoice and to limit the invoice to the services of one purchase order.
Extra costs
If extra costs occur, please make sure to add all necessary documentation (CMR, invoice, heating reports,) to your cost declaration and send it to afvalbeheer-basant@basf.com
Actual loading/collection process
Follow the directions to BASF Antwerpen (cfr. directions to BASF Antwerpen). The site has multiple entry gates: gate 6, gate 7, gate 14 and gate 15. For waste shipments Gate 6 is mandatory.
Arrival at BASF Antwerpen (gate 6)
The driver can park the truck at the parking lot in front of gate 6 and goes to the check-in building (E970) near the parking lot, with the check-in reference, ID, ADR certificate (if applicable), PPE.
Please note that this parking is only for short-term use during check-in. Long-term parking or leaving vehicles behind without the driver’s supervision is strictly forbidden.

Check-in
All drivers need to perform a self-service check-in via one of our terminals at our registration offices at Gate 6, which is to be completed by a manual check-in at our desk.
For the check-in the 10-digit reference number is needed : Type 0103xxxxxx
The driver receives the relevant access documents on paper : checklist + site access document (‘Laatvolgen’).
For shipments outside Belgium a CMR and attachments (Green List Form or Movement Document) will be handed over to the driver.
For shipments within Belgium where BASF acts as a collector, a CMR and ID-form is made available digitally in Ewastra. The driver has to change the status of the digital documents into start loading.
In other cases, the relevant collector will provide you with the necessary transport documents.

Safety
After check-in the driver will undergo a physical check on their identity (ID card required), ADR license (if applicable) and PPE. These are safety shoes with antistatic soles (EN 345-S2 closed shoes without air holes, electro-statically conductive base, specifically for self-loading type S3) / closed clothing, long trousers and a coat or an overall / safety goggles with side-flaps & safety helmet. Depending on the properties of the waste, additional PPE can be prescribed. Not passing this control, means no site access.
During check-in there is a safety test integrated. In case the driver does not pass the safety test he/she has one second chance. Each driver needs to pass this safety test in order to be able to load at our site.
All safety information can be found in the safety video being shown at our registration office and in the Safety instructions.
Enter the loading site via gate 6
The driver can go to his truck and drive to gate 6 to enter the site. At the gate, the driver hands over the site access document. The document is scanned, gate-in checks are performed and when all is OK, the gate is opened. All trucks proceed to the weighbridge where the driver needs to scan the ‘laatvolgen’, this is the document he receives at check-in.

Weighbridge - in
The driver drives on the bridge (in front of the barrier) and steps out of his truck. He scans the barcode at the top of the site access document (“laatvolgen”). The weight is registered, a small weighbill is printed and the barrier will open automatically. The driver enters in his truck and drives to the loading station. This location is mentioned clearly on the site access document.

Loading
The driver needs to report him/herself at the loading station/pick-up location. For bulk liquid waste, the manhole lids should be closed before presenting the truck. Fall protection equipment is available near our gates. It is forbidden to close the manhole lids at our site without using fall protection. A cleaning certificate has to be presented at the loading station.
The checklist and the site access document have to be presented to the responsible person of the loading station/pick-up location. The checklist has to be completed, signed by both parties and will be kept at the loading station/pick-up location. After loading, the site access document also has be signed by both parties and is returned to the driver as a site exit permit.
Weighbridge - out
After loading/pick-up, all drivers must go to the Weigh OUT- weighbridge. The same weighbridge procedure applies. For waste shipments within Flanders: the driver changes the status of the digital ID-form into 'Loaded'.
Note : At destination, the driver has to complete the form and have it signed by the responsible person at the unloading facility (status “Delivered).
Customs
If the driver doesn’t need customs papers, he/she can go straight to the exit and leave the site. Drivers who need customs papers have to go back to the counter and ask for the papers there. It will be indicated on the paperwork if the driver needs to get customs documents.
Leave the loading site
The driver hands over the ‘Laatvolgen’, together with the map of the site at the exit. In case of a CMR on paper from BASF, CMR1 (red version) needs to be handed over as well.
The site access document ('laatvolgen') has to be signed by the driver before handing over to the site security officer. The site security officer will perform the final checks. When everything is ok, the barcode of the site access document is scanned and the gate is opened. The driver leaves the site.
